Conway's Game of Life

This unusual game was invented by John Conway, a British mathematician. Specialists argue that this game models many features of biological life; hence the name of the game. Conway's evolution process goes on a (preferably infinite) board divided into equal squares. Each square can be either empty or occupied by a "living cell". The rules of evolution are simple:

  • A cell survives if it has 2 or 3 neighbors only.
  • New cells are born on empty squares with exactly 3 neighbors.

    Select the initial configuration and then watch its evolution.
